At Acusana Acupuncture, I provide individualised acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in a calm, supportive environment in Randalstown, convenient to Ballymena and the surrounding County Antrim area.

I have a particular interest in women’s health, including fertility and IVF/ICSI support, menstrual concerns, pregnancy, and the transition through perimenopause and menopause.

I also work with people seeking acupuncture for musculoskeletal pain,  migraines, digestive issues,  stress and emotional wellbeing.

Every treatment begins with a detailed consultation and is tailored to you as an individual.

Acusana takes its inspiration from the Latin words acus (“needle”) and sana (“heal”). The name reflects the philosophy at the heart of my practice — providing thoughtful, individualised care and creating a calm space where you can feel heard, supported and cared for throughout your treatment.

Our Services

ACUPUNTURE

Neoclassical acupuncture is a contemporary approach to traditional acupuncture that emphasises palpation, or the examination by pressing on different areas of the body, to diagnose and treat energetic disharmonies.

It is known for its immediate results and minimal use of needles, often requiring only a single needle to treat various symptoms.

GUA SHA THERAPY

Gua Sha is a traditional healing practice rooted in the ancient system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves the use of a smooth-edged tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin in strokes, a process that is believed to improve circulation and promote healing.

COSMETIC FACIAL ACUPUNTURE

Facial acupuncture, a practice rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the face. This technique is believed to enhance the flow of energy, or Qi (chee), thereby promoting skin health and reducing signs of aging. It’s often referred to as cosmetic acupuncture or an acupuncture facelift.

See How We Work

Your first acupuncture treatment explained.

Step 01

Consultation

An assessment of your general health and medical history, which includes the following:

  • A discussion about your presenting complaint.
  • A physical assessment: body and tongue diagnosis.
  • An opportunity to raise any questions that you may have before treatment.

Step 02

Treatment Plan

Prior to treatment, your practitioner will discuss your treatment plan and the proposed locations for needle placement. She will then begin by placing very fine needles at these strategic points on your body.

Step 03

Treatment

After placement, your practitioner may gently manipulate the needles to stimulate the acupuncture points or channels. Moxibustion, Gua Sha or cupping therapies may be added to the treatment at this point if necessary.

The needles remain in place for approximately 20 minutes.

Step 04

Needle Removal

After approximately 20 minutes, all needles are removed and disposed of hygienically in sharps containers.

Finally, in line with your treatment plan, your practitioner will advise you when to book a follow-up appointment.
